So, just over a year ago I took a photography course. Online. With Karen Russell. That course changed my life. Not in an educational way, or a spiritual way, or even a financial way. But in a creative way. One of the recommendations in the course was to purchase a 50mm f1.4 lens for my DSLR. I did.
With the information that I learned in the course and my new lens, I felt so empowered. Everything I looked at, I began to see through my camera lens! I began thinking about how I would compose a shot of all the things around me. In the last year, I am sure that I took more photos than I had ever before in my entire life! And they are good photos! I really do feel empowered and therefore more motivated to scrap the photos that I take. In fact, it was soon after completing her course that I started this blog...simply because I felt that with my new skills I had something worthy of sharing.
My mentor (and hero), Karen Russell, is an amazing photographer and you really should visit her blog. Not only does she possess an enormous amount of talent, but she has heart. If you visit her blog today and up until Tuesday (Jan 26th), you will see that she is giving away a spot in her fabulous Photographer's Workshop just by making a PayPal donation (all proceeds are going to Haiti). See what I mean? An amazing lady. She has changed my life, perhaps she will change yours too.
