So, our summer has been busy. So busy, that it has been difficult to even blog regularly and I miss it. Today is a rainy day and therefore perfect for getting caught up on downloading, editing and posting some of our summer events.
Shortly after returning from our Chase trip, my girls and I head out to my parent's farm for a visit. Sean had to work, but us girls went anyway. As always, Mom's garden is just a sight to behold. The flowers are so vibrant and welcoming. The gazebo that Dad build was so perfect for a little afternoon get-away in the shade.
While we were visiting, my cousin Carmen and her family also were there. With the passing of her dad (my uncle), Carmen has inherited land and animals to take care of. We took a short ride to 'the river' where the cows are currently located. With all the rain this year, the grass is extremely green and abundant and therefore the cows are looking very healthy. Carmen is such a great little farm girl and I know that she and her husband are going to do a great job with this new responsibility.
I took the opportunity to photograph the town elevator. Many of the elevators in small towns are now being torn down, which is so sad since the elevators have always been a landmark identifying the town's existence. They make such beautiful photos too!
While spending time with my parents and Carmen and her family, we were dazzled by Jesse, Carmen's little girl. She is so full of spunk and personality. I never once heard her whine or cry throughout the entire weekend! What a darling...
So great to spend time with family. Outdoors. In the summer warmth.
We left Jessica with Gramma and Papa for the week. This was her week to soak up love and lessons from her grandparents. It is a yearly tradition for my girls to spend time out at the farm in the summer. I am so grateful that my girls have a strong, close relationship with my parents. Now, if only I could have a week with them to myself!!
