So, I have to admit, I was made to do crafts. I love every minute of it... from brainstorming ideas and finding cheap supplies to perfecting the process for making the craft and packaging the final product so it looks attractive. Honestly, I have been craftin' all weekend!
Making this paper wreath sure made me happy this weekend. I was pleased with how it turned out. I had seen a similar idea on another blog about a year ago, but there were some parts to it that I did not particularly like. So in my version I made a few changes and streamlined the look by quite a bit. The best part about my wreaths, is that I am using pages from books that my parents gave me off of their bookshelf...some are even books that my dad used in school! The pages are authentically yellowed from age. Some of the pages have words underlined, or questions answered, or scribbles in the margins. The wreath even has that old paper smell!
One of the challenges to this craft, was getting a ring form. I had checked out about 5 different dollar stores in my area (an some not in my area!) but could not find the circle to form the base of my wreath. I checked at Michaels, but they wanted $10 for a wreath form! I cannot make money at the craft sale like that! Then, I thought of using foam core board that I found at Walmart. I traced circles using my mixing bowls at home and cut them out with an Xacto knife. I was able to cut out 5 wreath forms from one sheet of foam core that only cost me $4! I know, I was excited!
In the end, each wreath cost me about $2 to make and I plan on selling it for $25 - $30. Now that will make me some money, don't you agree?
