So, I am starting to build the love around our house.
I just took down the tree in my basement and now I am ready to decorate for Valentine's Day. I saw a blog post from Dottie Angel who made these lovely fluttering hearts and I knew I just had to have some in my house.
I started with an old French grammar book and began cutting double of each heart. Instead of sewing them like Dottie Angel, I sandwiched some baker's twine (my current obsession) in between the two identical hearts.
I hung them from another length of string that I strung across the bulkhead of my bay window. I liked the simplicity of Dottie Angel's hearts stuck up with washi tape. I'd have done that too, if I could find some in my neighbourhood. But I like the look of the many strings tied to the baker's twine.
I left long tails on the strings and tied a simple red ribbon to the end of each. I'm feeling the love already. I want it to fill my house. Every room, every corner.
The best part is that when the furnace kicks in to chase away the chilly air, the hearts begin to flutter, and I have the perfect view from my chair as I sip my tea.
