So, I am very glad that our OLW assignment this month was a simple self-portrait.
We have been spending our time outdoors and drinking in every nice day that we have had this summer. Not very much scrapping has been going on.
I decided to trim this photo to 6x8. In order to fit inside the page protector (I used an 8x8) I simply trimmed the excess 2 in off with my paper trimmer and adhered it closed with some yellow washi tape.
In the area where the holes are to add it to my binder, I cut a strip of map paper and slid it in that space. It looks so much better than when it was empty. I think it helps to define the two edges of my photo now.
I stamped simple words, life is good, on a scrap piece of cardstock that I had trimmed to look like a banner and stapled it in place. These words are so true of my life. I really cannot complain. Oh sure, I deal with back pain and work can be stressful at times and I never have my house as clean as I would like it to be, but overall my life is good. Very good when I take it all into perspective.
Being OPEN this year has allowed me to see the good in things, to "keep an open mind" and "my eyes wide open" and all of those other clichés. My OLW has helped me to remain optimistic and I believe that has allowed me to see the 'good' in every day.
