So, I am supposed to be running in the Color Me Rad run tomorrow.
But due to the flooding and local state of emergency in my city, the race has been postponed. I do understand why. I am actually glad. For those who are still homeless, or unable to reenter their homes, or are trying to clean up or rebuild and had intended to be a part of this fun race, this is one less thing they have to think about right now. The race has been rescheduled for August, giving time for people to recover and get excited again for the Color Run.
This is actually a blessing in disguise for me too. I had already asked my sister to run in my place on Saturday. It seems that I am having issues with a terrible torn hamstring injury that I acquired a few years ago. In the early evening on Saturday past, I noticed bruising down my leg, exactly like what I had during my injury. So I am revisiting my active release physiotherapist and would not have been running tomorrow. Since the race has been rescheduled for August, I am praying that it will give me time to get to the bottom of my hamstring issue and strengthen up for the race.
And my sister...well, she was pumped to run it for me. She had actually tried to register for the race initially, but it was sold out in just a few days after opening for early bird registration! So, she is a little bummed, but is going to put her name on the wait list hoping that there may be a few registrants that cannot make it for the new date. I am keeping my fingers crossed for both of us.
What about you? Have you ever done a Color Run?
