So, this is what summer is all about.
Our summers are a bit different now that the girls are working. We did not get away as a family for any period of time because everyone's schedules were so mixed up. However, one weekend while Sean and I were out at our condo, the girls surprised us and come out for a night to be with us.
The next day, we took the girls on a hike to Grassi Lakes.
There were all kinds of shenanigans on the hike up to the top.
The view up top is fabulous as you look out over the valley and to the town of Canmore below. But the real reason to take on this hike is what lies further back, away from the valley...
I kid you not...this is the actual color of the water. There are two small lakes side by side surrounded by these sheer rock faces. There are rock climbers all over these surfaces climbing and stretching to reach the next clip in the rock face. It is mesmerizing.
We decided to do a little climbing of our own.
Of course, we are not trained professionals and had no equipment whatsoever, but found a few ridges that made us feel accomplished.
We definitely could not complain about the absolutely perfect weather.
This one will definitely go down as a memory for our family in the summer of 2013.
Just look at those smiles...
