So, I had a fabulous weekend with some of my cousins.
We all grew up on the farm not far from one another and have been able to keep the relationships alive for all these years. There were several who were not able to make it this weekend due to June being a busy month. We missed them dearly and look forward to havinging them join us again at the next get-together.
I hosted the weekend at my house this time around. To kick things off, I made up a goodie bag for everyone. Cuz you need goodie bags at sleepovers, right? Just a few essentials to carry us through.
They arrived around 6pm on Friday night and after downing some sushi we head over to my nephew's baseball game which was in walking distance from my house. Along with watching the game, we were watching some ominous rain clouds forming above us. At one point they even stopped the game for 15 minutes due to lightning being real close. Soon after, it began pouring and the game was called.
Since we had walked to the game, we now had to make our way back to my house in the rain. It was absolutely pouring! So we would run for a little ways and then have to stop under the eaves of garages to be shielded for a bit! We were soaked and laughing and muddy. But we were having fun!
Of course the rainbow was fantastic.
And soon it turned into a double rainbow.
My sister joined us shortly after we dried off to say that her son had dropped her keys down the port-a-potty! Seeing this as a challenge, my one cousin Jackie decided they should go fish them out! So we suited her up and sent them off! And lo and behold, they were able to retrieve them! Jackie was the hero for the rest of the weekend!
After many laughs and drinks and snacks, we all settled down to sleep in my basement.
Next morning we slept in, had a lazy breakfast and then head off to the mall for a serious day of shopping. One of the necessary stops was David's Tea!
Then there was jewelry...
And some fun antics...
My cousin Richelle was looking for an outfit for an upcoming Bohemian wedding. Long story short, she found this cute top and just to fit in, I tried on the coordinating dress to try to entice her into it. In the end, she settled on the top and I ended up buying the dress! Didn't need it, but I figure that I should be able to find some BBQ to wear it to this summer!
These three are sisters and have the coolest relationship (the girl on the far right is a sister-in-law but could easily pass as a blood sister).
After shopping all day, we selected a restaurant for supper and enjoyed a fabulous meal together. We were all more than ready to sit down by this point!
Instead of dessert at the restaurant, we opted for frozen yogurt.
On Sunday we split up to do separate last minute errands before all the girls had to head back home.
I just love that we all get along so well and take a true interest in each other's lives. I feel so blessed.
Love you girls!
