So, pulling together the kit that I am using for this year's December Daily album is almost as fun as making the album!
This year I did not purchase a pre-made kit, although the ones that I see out there are very fabulous. Instead, I gathered my own items that I will be using in my DD album for 2014.
Essentially, I am using Maggie Holmes Open Book products. When I first saw Open Book, my jaw dropped. I loved everything about it: the colour scheme, the vintage feel, those flowers, the gold, the vellum, the script done in calligraphy... About that same time my local scrapbook store closed its doors and I was shocked! I am not an online shopper as I prefer to see and hold items before purchasing, however, I quickly realized that if I did not jump on the bandwagon, I would lose out on the Open Book line. Long story short: I found an online store that carried the entire line and I ordered it all! (The other kicker for me is the shipping costs which equal more than half of the cost of my product!) But I knew I wanted this line and paid my money.
Rather than chasing down another line for Christmas, I decided that I would use the precious Open Book line for my DD album.
And a little disclaimer: I have hit that time of year when taking an indoor photograph is near impossible where I live. I reshot all my photos for this post twice - in one room they were too yellow, in another they were too blue. Sigh... So, unfortunately, I did my best to edit, but still could not get a clean white photo. My apologies. Hoping it bothers me more that it does you.
When I received my shipment, I set out straight away, spraying some shipping tags gold and then having fun with the flowers. These will be used throughout my album.
The pre-made tags are just adorable (and what inspired me to create my own knock-offs a bit ago), so those will go in my album too!
And the script...
I did debate whether or not to purchase these clips. Cute as they are, I always have trouble with pages that have 3D items since they don't let the pages lay flat, but in the end I decided to give it a go. So we will see how these little guys get used...
The flowers in this line stole my heart. In fact, I bought two packs of them. So prepare to see flowers on my pages this year...
The gold doilies, photo transparencies and cute little mini pockets are part of the Open Book line. And then I swung by my local hardware store to snatch up a few paint chips that I will be using as well.
Sadly, the chipboard frames from the Open Book line were the only item that my online scrapbook store did not have (apparently they were sold out everywhere). So these ones I pulled from Maggie's signature line and I think they will fit in just fine.
I bought the big 12x12 paper pack from the Open Road line and pulled out a few for the base pages of my album.
And of course there are some very lovely gold foil vellum pages and a few cardstock ones as well.
I don't typically use many letter stickers like this, so I may have bought these simply because I love the look of them, so hopefully I can find places in my album to use them!
And lastly, I bought the sticker sheets, one entirely of gold foil, glitter lettering and some rub-ons.
Looking back on all this product now, I may have overbought. But I figure that if it doesn't all go into my DD album, then I can use it elsewhere, as I know that I will not tire of it!
Opening all of those packages and plastic wrap felt like an early Christmas, but now, it is all organized in little containers and ready to be used in my album.
Here we go...
