So, I am sharing a few more pages of my art journal from the Caylee Grey Minibook workshop at Studio Calico.
Slowly but surely I am finding time to work in this little book and it makes my soul happy.
This page was gold dots on vellum and I knew that I wanted to do something see-through here. So, when one of the flowers from my Christmas cactus was accidentally knocked off, I decided to press and dry it. Then I sandwiched it between the vellum and a piece of transparency by sewing the two together. I absolutely love that I can see the details of the flower and that it preserved so well.
The facing page is one that I watercoloured.
Here is another vellum page with gold foil doilies and on the facing page I kept it simple by lettering with watercolour ink.
Here is another watercolour lettering page. I think the right side needs something more, but I am not sure what yet...
Then I did a bit of journaling on a patterned page by simply swiping a bit of white paint in spots so that I could write on it. And I played with a little more watercolour and doilies here.
On the left here, I did an ink transfer of the flower and on the right is embossed stamping with a bit of watercolour resist.
In the class we were given some printables, and one was this flower. I watercoloured the background page and then the flower as well.
On this page I did some watercolour ink lettering on vellum. It sort of wrinkled the vellum a bit, but I like the added texture. And I like that the next page is peeking through the words.
Finally, behind the vellum is this flower printable from the class on a patterned paper page that I toned down with gesso.
I am really loving this little book and the fact that I can just play with no rules...
