So, the second week of our summer vacation was all about the two of us.
We stayed in a hotel in Kelowna, BC where we ate well on their patio, walked along the pier and through the hotel grounds, and of course watched the necessary World Cup soccer games.
The Okanagan Valley is full of delightful wineries.
The first one we visited was named Cedar Creek and I brought home two bottles of their Merlot. Because this valley gets very hot, the wines from this area are comparable to those in France. The views were stunning with the vineyards extending down towards the lake.
We drove on further to Penticton where we met up with some friends to visit a few more wineries. Lake Breeze was our first stop and we endulged in lunch on their canopied patio.
Next, was Red Rooster...
After a third winery, a swim in the lake, and supper on this hot day, the end of the day warranted some delicious cherry ice cream!
Back towards Kelowna, hubby and I took another day to explore and be delighted by the Mission Hill winery. This place was magical and we spent several hours here one afternoon. From the scenery, to the information gained in the tour, to the lunch on the patio complete with sommelier, to the featured sculpturist and stunningly manicured lawns, this was a day to remember.
After 30+C temperatures each day, it was necessary to spend time swimming in the lake and reading on Kelowna's beach...
Making our way home towards the end of the week, we made a stop in Sicamous where we met up with one of Sean's firefighting captains for a few hours and instead of getting back in the truck to drive again, we decided to hit the beach here too!
Our last night was spent at Canyon Hot Springs which boasts stunning views while bathing in the natural hot pools.
As always, it is sad to have to go home after such a wonderful time, but we were glad to see our girls again...
