So, I am totally inspired by Maggie Holmes' new scrapbooking line with Crate Paper.
Maggie's new line is called Open Book and it is everything that I love...vintage flowers, old book paper, gold foil, doilies, black, chipboard frames, soft pink and cream.
I am crossing my fingers that I will be able to get my hands on this entire line. Sadly, all my local scrapbook stores have had to close their doors and so I am limited to what I can get online. That is why my fingers are crossed.
Anyway, after looking through her new product line, I was inspired to create these tags in Maggie fashion.
Starting with regular shipping tags from an office supply store, I used watercolour paints to create an ombre effect. For these two tags below, I painted one an orange ombré and one half way up with black (which turned out grey). On the orange tag, I also made a gold flower embossed on vintage book paper. The pink doily was one that was originally white but I painted it with my watercolour paints and the mint one was purchased in that colour last Christmas season.
Because Maggie's new line includes black, I created this tag with black cardstock and just copied the shape from another tag. The first tag here was cut from vintage book paper and then I watercoloured it as well with both mint and pink. Both sentiment tags are from Maggie's Styleboard line.
Here I added a little sentiment that I did in calligraphy and on the black tag this time, I sewed on some crumpled tissue, added another mint doily and used one of my butterfly stamps on cardstock which I then trimmed.
For all of the tags, I watercoloured some paper reinforcements before adhering them over the original reinforcements, which are still showing (the brown). This idea was inspired by Amanda who does wonderful things as one of Maggie's designers.
I realize that the colours I used are not like Maggie's new line at all, I was just inspired after looking at her creations and this is what came out!
And I had fun!
